Coggeshall, Essex
Coggeshall is a small town and civil parish in the Braintree district of Essex, about 8 miles east of Braintree and 6 miles south-west of Colchester. It grew wealthy on the wool trade in the medieval period, and Paycocke's House, built in 1509 for cloth merchant Thomas Paycocke, still stands on West Street as a reminder of that history. The town today holds long-standing pubs including the Woolpack Inn and The Chapel Inn, several cafes and tea rooms, a dental practice and a GP surgery, plus the visitor centre at the nearby Marks Hall estate arboretum.
